The project ‘Enlight’ was initiated in 2015 by AEA and CAPGEMINI to support Girl Children living in difficult circumstances. The project ‘Enlight’ envisions a better future for girl children living in difficult circumstances through continued access and quality education. A total of 1936 Girl Children are part of this initiative across Bengaluru, Chennai, Delhi, Hyderabad, Kolkata, Mumbai, Pune, Salem and Trichy. The UNESCAP (2008) defines Children in especially difficult circumstances as “those children who are for shorter or longer periods in their lives, exposed to intense multiple risks to their physical and mental health. A common characteristic of these children is that they lack proper adult care and protection and that they lead their lives outside mainstream society”. The project supports the Goal 4 (Quality Education – Ensure Inclusive and Equitable Quality Education and promote lifelong learning opportunities for all) and the Goal 5 (Gender Equality – Achieve gender equality and empower all women and girls) of the SDG.
- To break gender bias and other barriers faced by girl child
- Promote access and inclusion in Quality Education
- Facilitate uninterrupted education of girls to seek a better life
- Developing 21st Century Skills, ICT Skills and Safety & Self Protection skills to build resilience in girl children
